Pitch for NEA (MUSIC VIDEO)

I want to create a music video to the song “Drunk walk home” by Mitski, in order to address themes of gender performativity and the effects thereof. The song would follow a young man, who dresses in drag for a night out. The video will become more and more dark to contrast a ‘glamorised’ version of the character for the beginning of the video, whilst walking through streets at night. The video should act as a protest to gender norms and demonstrates the restrictions of a hegemonic society on self expression. The lighting will be moody to address this and a range of camera shots will be used in a variety of places to demonstrate the characters journey. This targets a young 16-25, middle to upmarket audience, as younger generations are, usually, more open to these ideas surrounding gender.
The surrounding website will accentuate themes from the video and encourage audience interaction through easter eggs, whilst acting as promotion for my artist.
Thematically I am inspired by a lot of horror movies in addition to the more contemporary media surrounding this topic, however, I believe this can be made relevant and even effective as for many years the issue was taboo and linked to 'ungodly' behaviour and, especially 'male', representation with gender performance is lacking and there are fewer pieces to build off of than other issues. The mood board below shows this through the image of the movie Midsommar. The main 3 inspirations, however are the video for 'Space and Time' by Wolf Alice the TV series 'Pose' and the award winning film' Moonlight', which do more directly address themes of gender performance.

If you could take a moment to fill out this survey in relation to my pitch that would be super helpful.
